On Thursday, September 19, 2024, the first partnership meeting was held, which also marked the inaugural session of the Employment Council, as part of the LEP II East Sarajevo project “A Step to Employment.”
In collaboration with partner organizations and institutions, the implementation of the mentioned project began on June 10, 2024. In line with the project implementation plan for LEP II East Sarajevo “A Step to Employment,” the first joint activity was the establishment of the Employment Council.
The Employment Council of the City of East Sarajevo is a permanent working body established by the Mayor’s decision. The members of the Employment Council are appointed coordinators representing their respective organizations and institutions, which are partners in the “A Step to Employment” project, as well as representatives of the East Sarajevo City Development Agency. The Council will operate based on a Rulebook on Work, which needs to be created and adopted, and it will submit reports to the Mayor. The coordinators responsible for the Council’s work are representatives of the East Sarajevo City Development Agency and the Employment Bureau of the Republic of Srpska. The Employment Council will ensure the alignment of supply and demand in the labor market of East Sarajevo and the sustainability of the project’s results.
The Local Employment Partnership of East Sarajevo is one of 26 partnerships established in Bosnia and Herzegovina within the project “European Union Support to Local Employment Partnerships – Phase II” (LEP II), funded by the European Union with 6 million euros and implemented by the International Labour Organization. The project’s goal is to contribute to improving employment in local communities through local employment partnerships and to enhance the skills and employment opportunities for disadvantaged individuals in the labor market.
