Eda has published a new report containing results from a survey on companies’ training needs. During September and October 2024, the attitudes and opinions of representatives from 122 companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s leading economic sectors – metal processing, wood processing, food industry, plastics industry, and IT industry, were gathered.
In addition to insights into which trainings are considered a priority by sector, the survey also highlights the necessary trainings for company owners/managers, preferences regarding training delivery methods, willingness to (co)fund required trainings, and the training that respondents may offer.
The survey findings provide a solid basis for designing and planning systematic support measures for companies in the field of training by relevant institutions at appropriate levels, potentially with support from international organizations and projects. The findings may also be useful for relevant institutions and educational bodies in the formal education sector to supplement, modify, and adapt curricula in line with employers’ needs.

The survey was initiated based on OECD recommendations from the SBA Implementation Report for BiH for Dimension 8a (Skills for SMEs) and conducted by Eda in cooperation with the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, the Chamber of Commerce of Republika Srpska, and the Chamber of Commerce of Brčko District BiH.
These activities are part of the project “Advanced Implementation of the Small Business Act in BiH2EU – SBA in BiH2EU” implemented by Eda in partnership with the Sarajevo Economic Region Development Agency – SERDA and financed by Sweden.
