In September and October 2024, Eda conducted a survey on companies’ training needs. The opinions and attitudes of representatives from 121 companies from key economic sectors in Bosnia and Herzegovina were collected, including metal processing, wood processing, the food industry, the plastics industry, and the IT industry.
This research was initiated based on the recommendations from the OECD’s Report on the Implementation of the Small Business Act (SBA) for SMEs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, specifically for Dimension 8a (skills for SMEs). The recommendations suggested introducing a regular annual survey of training needs (knowledge and skills) in the leading economic sectors.
The data processing and analysis are currently underway, and a report is being prepared. The research findings aim to contribute to the creation of systemic support in this area by the relevant institutions at appropriate levels, as well as to better evaluations in future reports from the OECD and the European Commission.
The research was conducted in cooperation with the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Srpska, the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Chamber of Commerce of Brčko District BiH. This is one of the activities of the project “Advanced Implementation of the Small Business Act in BiH2EU – SBA in BiH2EU,” implemented by Eda in cooperation with the Sarajevo Regional Development Agency SERDA and financed by Sweden.
