In cooperation with the Institute for Standardization of BiH, within the project “Improving the availability of technical standards for SMEs”, the activities of translating 21 standards in the field of wood processing, metal processing, and welding, which were assessed as priorities by SME representatives, were completed. These standards have been reviewed by the Technical Committees in terms of document quality and in the coming period the Institute will carry out the procedure of adopting standards by translation, which will allow companies to use a significant number of technical standards in one of the official languages in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which have not been available so far.
Within the project, activities on the redesign of the website of the Institute for Standardization of BiH were completed in order to facilitate access to standards and information for SMEs. Online purchase of standards is enabled. The standards can be downloaded in electronic form immediately after payment is made. Also, the option of reading the standard for 7 and 30 days has been introduced for a fee. With the redesigned website, which has various customization options, it is possible to efficiently and transparently inform users in the field of standardization and conformity assessment, as well as other relevant stakeholders.
The implemented activities are part of the efforts of the project “European Small Business Act as a Framework for Strategies and Policies for SMEs in BiH – SBA in BiH ” to improve dimension 7 of the SBA profile of BiH (standards and technical regulations). For the above-mentioned activities, KM 46.804 was spent from the Mechanism for Support of the Implementation of SME Development Strategies (SIEM).
