Eda in cooperation with the Department for Economic Development, Sport and Culture of the Brcko District of BiH has organized the signing of a grant contract for the implementation of projects for women’s entrepreneurship support in the Brcko District of BiH.
Within the project “European Small Business Act as a framework of SME strategies and policies in BiH – SBA in BiH”, in cooperation with the Department for Economic Development, Sport and Culture of the Brcko District of BiH, a public call for women’s entrepreneurship was published. The public call was open to citizens’ associations, foundations, business associations, chambers of commerce and development agencies from all over the BiH, but the proposed project activities must be related to women’s entrepreneurship support in the Brcko District of BiH through the implementation of support measures defined in the Action Plan for the Development of Women’s Entrepreneurship in the Brcko District of BiH.
All three organizations who applied for funds met the defined criteria, so that contracts were concluded with: the Becirevic Family Foundation from Brcko, the Youth Organization “Little Prince” from Brcko, and the “Initiative for Quality and Sustainable Development” from Banja Luka. The total value of the grant funds for implementation of the projects is KM 52,730.
The project interventions will take place in the Brcko District, with activities focused on supporting the development of women’s entrepreneurship with the aim of educating women entrepreneurs in various areas of business, as well as their mutual networking.
Mr. Pero Gudeljević, Head of the Department for Economic Development, Sport and Culture of the Brcko District of BiH, said that women’s entrepreneurship was not recognized in BiH, as well as in the Brcko District of BiH, as a potential for the development of the society and that this project wanted to change that image. “For this reason, Eda – Enterprise Development Agency has published a call and invited those who want to help the development of women’s entrepreneurship. The goal is to provide an incentive to women’s entrepreneurship development in the Brcko District of BiH. The agreements were signed between Eda and three citizens’ associations, which will, over the next six months, by conducting different types of activities such as education, workshops, etc., contribute to make women entrepreneurship part of the development of the Brcko District and where women would be included equally with men in the economic development of the Brcko District of BiH” said Mr. Gudeljević.
The project “European Small Business Act as a framework of SME strategies and policies in BiH – SBA in BiH” is funded by Sida through the Embassy of Sweden in B&H.
