The Law on Amendments to the Law on SME Development was adopted

The National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska adopted the Law on Amendments to the Law on the SMEs Development at its 6th regular session. Among other, the Law fully harmonizes the definition of SMEs with EU recommendations, fully adopts the Small Business Act for Europe (SBA) principles, defines process of their operationalization (through strategies and action plans) and broadens structure of the SME Development Council as a permanent form of public-private dialogue.

Adopting these changes is the first major step towards harmonization of the legal framework for development of SMEs and entrepreneurship in BiH, as one of the preconditions for progress of BiH in implementation of the Small Business Act for Europe (SBA). In the Federation of BiH, a parliamentary procedure is ongoing to adopt the same definition of SMEs, similarly defined the same principles and their operationalization, as well as a permanent body for public-private dialogue. A similar process will be implemented also in the Brcko District.

The Law on Amendments to the Law on SME Development of the Republic of Srpska was prepared with the support of the project “European Small Business Act as a framework of SME strategies and policies in BiH – SBA in BiH”. The Law is available here: https://www.narodnaskupstinars.net/?q=ci/акти/усвојени-закони/закон-о-измјенама-и-допунама-закона-о-развоју-малих-и-средњих-предузећа
