Grant contracts for women entrepreneurship support signed

Two contracts for awarding grants to support women entrepreneurship from the SIEM fund have been signed in Eda today. The SIEM mecahnism  is being developed and used to improve implementation of strategies and plans focused on SMEs. The RS Ministry of Economy and Entrepreneurship, as one of the main partners of the project “European Small Business Act as a framework of SME strategies and policies in BiH – SBA in BiH”, played a significant role in the process of selecting projects to support women entrepreneurship. In the forthcoming period, an intensive cooperation with the RS Ministry of Economy and Entrepreneurship will continue through activities of monitoring of the selected projects and development of the SIEM as a future instrument of the RS Ministry of Economy and Entrepreneurship in support of implementation of development strategies.

The first signed contract relates to the support to the implementation of the project “An Ethno Entrepreneur” of the Humanitarian Association of Women “Duga” from Banja Luka, which is focused at strengthening of women entrepreneurship in Banja Luka and surrounding municipalities, as well as the preservation of the old crafts. The value of the project is BAM 41,930 KM, of which grant amount is BAM 35,000 KM. The second grant contract is aimed at realization of the project “Support to Entrepreneurship of Women of Republika Srpska”. This is a project of the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Srpska, which is focused at strengthening the competitiveness and cooperation of women entrepreneurs. The value of the project is BAM 63,417.26 KM, of which grant amount is BAM 44,997.26 KM.

The signing of the contract was attended by Mr. Zoran Savić, Assistant Minister of Economy and Entrepreneurship of Republika Srpska; Ms. Mira Zvonar, Director of the Humanitarian Association of Women “Duga” from Banja Luka, Mr. Pero Ćorić, Director of the Chamber of Commerce of Republika Srpska and Mr. Zdravko Miovčić, Director of Eda.

After signing the contracts, Bojan Kovačević, Legal Adviser in Eda, explained the rules and all elements important for implementation of the contracts.

The project “European Small Business Act as a framework of SME strategies and policies in BiH – SBA in BiH” is financed by Sida through the Embassy of Sweden in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
